Problem Statement: Many children in India are homeless or living in poverty, especially those who are orphaned or who's guardians are unable to care for them. They can't afford necessities like food or warm clothes. These children come to the Care Center seeking assistance.

Objectives: This grant will help pay for a child's needs for one year. These needs include (but are not limited to) clothing, nutrition, basic medical needs, and shelter in a children's home (if/when applicable). This will also help cover all school related costs such as uniforms, books, and tuition, as well as a bicycle for commuting to and from school. This grant is specifically designed for a child between the ages of ten and fifteen years old. The desired donation amount is determined by the number of children in that age range who are currently and consistently attending the Care Center. $2,000 covers the needs of one child for one year.

After Statement:

Problem Statement: In low-middle income countries, such as India, the onset and existence of menstruation can be challenging for young women. Young women lack resources for safely managing menstruation at home and in various other settings. These young women face many challenges including, but not limited to: inadequately clean and safe bathrooms, lack of running water, and menstrual supplies. Specifically, it would be deemed unacceptable for men with adequate resources to provide these supplies to them.

Objectives: The purpose of this grant is to provide three young women with quarterly resources for one year, which would give them the ability to go and obtain any needed materials independently.

After Statement:

Problem Statement: The beds in Bach Christian Hospital get heavy use. Most of our beds are more than 20 years old. They were purchased locally, being the only option at the time. Materials were of poor quality and with constant use and frequent shifting to accommodate patient requirements, many of the wheels and legs are damaged. In many cases the wheels are rusted and don’t roll well making it difficult to move patients. Many of the mechanisms for raising the head or foot of the bed are rusted or broken. Despite efforts by the maintenance staff to repair and weld and replace wheels, many of the beds are in poor shape.

Objectives: $400 each (up to 50 beds) $400- $20,000

After Statement:

Problem Statement: The heart of the inpatient care at Bach Christian Hospital has been a central nursing station, divided in two sections, from which nursing staff have provided care for patients in both male and female wards. The time has come to modernize and increase the efficiency of this central point of care to the largest number of patients and those with the least means. The current structure is not conducive to communicating with family members and is inefficient in that it doesn’t allow for certain shared nursing services between wards.

Objectives: Raising $10,000 to help refurbish the central nursing station to help enhance the function and efficiency of the area.

After Statement:

Problem Statement: Provide a Christmas Program for the Orphans in India. They would like to be able to prepare a feast for them, provide them with jackets and a small gift all while sharing the birth and purpose of Jesus.

Objectives: During Christmas, the kids will receive the story of Christmas and the joy of sharing a meal, a Christmas gift of clothes and/or a jacket, along with having some fun with a small ferris wheel and bounce house. This will be for the kids that have been regularly attending the care center to help prevent them of just showing up to receive the free shirt and pants.

After Statement:

Problem Statement: The Mother Theresa Children's Home is in desperate need of a new refrigerator. The Missionaries of Charity House is located at the historic Shivala Ghat, which has a Shiva temple with marvelous architecture. . Children from ages 0-15 years of age are given a place in the shelter to help with education, co-curricular activities, health and personal development of every child. This is why having a refrigerator for food items, water, etc. is extremely important.

Problem Statement: The Dying Destitute home is located in Varanasi. According to Hindus, dying in the sacred city of Varanasi brings liberation –mukti– no matter your faith or religious denomination. If widows, homeless and helpless needs a place to stay before embarking on their final journey, they’ll find it in Mukti Bhawan, Varanasi’s “Death Hotel”. Havin a refrigerator is extremely important in providing them temperate regulated food items and water during this tough time.
